
Hello, I am Elsa Romero
A Brazilian multi-artist who investigate the narratives of space in its multiple possibilities, exploring hybrid formats. I am a Set Designer of theatrical spectacles, Art Director/Production Designer of films and series, Ephemeral Architect of temporary pavillions, events and Installations. Also, I venture as an actress and performer in some special productions.
In theater, I’ve designed the scenography for more than 30 shows, as well
as idealized the light and costume design for some productions in Brazil and Portugal. In addition, I am a member and co-founder of Teatro Voador Não Identificado, a theater company based in Rio de Janeiro that develops a particular research in the areas of contemporary dramaturgy and theatrical aesthetics.
In cinema, I’ve signed the Production Design of several feature films such as Sick, Sick, Sick (Alice Furtado), A Herança (João Candido Zacharias), A Baleia (Felipe Bragança) and fiction series, among others. Since 2010, I have covered all functions of the art department and the productions I have participated were premiered at important international festivals such as Cannes, Rotterdam, Berlinale, Sundance, Locarno, Rio International Festival.
I have a Master degree in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces at Elisava in Barcelona. And a graduation degree in Scenography at UNIRIO and in Visual Communication - Cinema at UFF, both federal universities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
